Empowering Lives, Building Futures

Empowering Women and Youth for a Thriving Nepal

Founded on January 24, 2010, the Women Skill Development Center (WSDC) is a non-profit, non-political organization based in Itahari, Sunsari, Nepal. For over 14 years, we have been dedicated to transforming lives by empowering underprivileged women and marginalized youth across Nepal. What began as a mission to address poverty, unemployment, and inequality in eastern Nepal has grown into a national effort to build inclusive, resilient communities through skill development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable partnerships.

Our Collaborated Partners

At the Women Skill Development Center (WSDC), we believe collaboration is key to creating lasting change. We proudly partner with a diverse network of local governments, NGOs, international organizations, and private sector allies to amplify our impact across Nepal. From the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) providing accredited courses to cottage industries and financial institutions supporting our micro-entrepreneurs, these partnerships fuel our mission. Together, we’re building sustainable communities, empowering women and youth, and aligning with global goals like the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our partners are vital to transforming lives and fostering a brighter future for Nepal.

We Take Action. To Make Better Changes

With a holistic approach rooted in capacity building and collaboration, WSDC aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 5 (Gender Equality) and 17 (Partnerships). Our programs have trained over 500 individuals in vocational trades, supported 1,500+ women in anti-violence and empowerment initiatives, and promoted sustainable practices like composting and waste management.

Our Key Priorities

From certified technical training to business development, WSDC offers practical solutions to real challenges. Our work spans Nepal’s Eastern Region—Morang, Saptari, Jhapa, Dhankuta, and Sankhuwasabha—and beyond, with a focus on sustainable community development.

Leadership & Skills: Partnering with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), we provide job-ready training to build confidence and employability.

Entrepreneurship: We support women and youth in launching small businesses, connecting them to markets and resources for financial independence.

Community Impact: From Open Defecation Free (ODF) campaigns benefiting over 2,000 households to volunteer-driven health and environmental projects, we foster self-sustaining communities.

Advocacy: We champion gender equality and youth empowerment, collaborating with local governments, NGOs, and international partners to amplify our reach.

We envision a Nepal where women and youth lead dignified lives, driving social and economic progress through entrepreneurship, skills, and collaboration.

Our Mission WSDC is committed to uplifting disadvantaged communities by fostering essential skills, promoting micro-entrepreneurship, and advocating for gender equality. Through transformative programs, we equip women and youth with the tools to break free from poverty and create lasting change.
